The Fight Begins

Posted on

My hope was this blog would be short lived but unfortunately, that will not be the case. I have been diagnosed with a Stage 1 Pleomorphic Sarcoma. (say that fast 5 times!) While it sounds daunting, if I am going to have a Sarcoma, these are the best possible circumstances. First, we caught it early (stage 1) and it is localized in my thigh. The CT scans were all clean and my bloodwork was perfect. No cancer anywhere else which is a huge relief.

We met with Dr Ferrone at Brigham and Women’s in Boston this morning and got the news. The path is pretty clear but we have more doctors to meet with on Monday at Dana Farber to ask a ton of questions and determine the best course of action. It is encouraging that Sarcoma’s of this type in an extremity have a better than 90% survival rate. My overall general good health is also a big plus.

Bring it……
