Biopsy Complete

Posted on

Sitting in recovery after the biopsy procedure here at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. As has been the case for every visit, the staff here was first class. The biopsy procedure went very well but yielded no new information for us. They took 2 cell samples and 8 core samples. I was surprised how little discomfort I felt and I was awake and talking with the doctors and nurses during the 60 minutes it took to get the samples.

It was interesting and comforting to talk with the doctors and hear about the team effort and collaboration that is going on behind the scenes. The biopsy was performed with the eventual removal of the tumor in mind. It is essential that it was done the right way and in the right place so as not to conflict with any potential future procedures.

The follow up is scheduled for April 24th with Dr Ferrone and the team that is working on my case. It is going to be a long week but I am feeling optimistic about things. Really have no choice as we just don’t know what we are dealing with until April 24th.

Think you are going to be fine – if your blood work is fine. Hang in there!
